SALT CLEANS GREENS
In cleaning greens add a handful of salt to the second water. This will make the sand sink to the bottom of the pan and another rinsing will make them thoroughly clean.

BAKING PEPPERS
When baking peppers place them in muffin pans. The peppers will keep their shape much better than when coked in an ordinary baking dish.

FUNNEL TWINE HOLDER
A small funnel suspended on the kitchen wall is an ideal holder for a ball of twine, with the loose end running down through the spout.

DAMP PICNIC WASHCLOTHS
When packing for a picnic include a tin or glass can, with cover, filled with washcloths or rags wrung out of water. If kept covered they will remain damp a long time and are very convenient.

KEEPING FRUITCAKE MOIST
Here is a hint to keep fruit cake moist for a long time. If the cake dries out too much in baking it is also valuable. Place the fruitcake in a tin box and cover it with sliced apples. Cover tightly. The juice of the apple is absorbed by the cake and not only makes it moist but also adds flavor.

NO TEARS WHEN PEELING ONIONS
If matches are held between teeth the sulphur tips will prevent eyes from smarting or watering when peeling onions or grating horseradish. The easiest way is to fold back paper cover of :"packet" pocket matches, such as men carry.
